Our first meeting took place via Zoom on 14th July 2020. Our group currently consists of eight volunteer members: Kate Baylis, David James, Rachel McCarthy, Adele Stevenson, Nancy Tavares- Butler, Hugo Ward, and Gary and Cathryn Whiteside.
What is the Goal of the Speed Reduction Working Group?
To make North Waltham a safe inclusive family-friendly and active transport-based village, welcoming to all road users e.g. vehicles, (private, commercial and agricultural etc.), walkers, cyclists, horse riders, skateboarders, mobility vehicles, runners etc.
Agreed (by North Waltham Parish Council) Actions
To gauge Village support for a 20 mph speed limit by canvassing all residents, (the majority of residents supported this view in the 2010 Village Plan).
To communicate locally using various channels including placing posters around the village
To reply to HCC Highways email expressing disappointment to their response, (see June 2020 Parish Magazine) and stating that NWPC will continue lobbying for a reduction in the speed limit in our village.
To lobby support from our elected representatives from Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council and HCC.
Are we missing anything? We would welcome any feedback, ideas or suggestions. We would love to hear from any contributors to help shape the cause and get involved with the actions.
