Our last meeting on Thursday 12th November 2020 was held by Zoom – we open Zoom at 7.00 pm to give members a chance to join and have a chat before we start the meeting at 7.30 pm. Our speaker kicked off our meeting – Jo South is a local artist living in Overton and she talked about how her interest in painting really started when she was studying in Canterbury where she painted her favourite pubs and scenes around the area – Jo’s interest is in architecture and her painting style of ink and watercolours beautifully reflect this. It was when she was living in Dusseldorf, Germany, that she began selling prints of her paintings of the various buildings of the area. Since living in Overton she has painted many of the buildings of the area. Her latest work is called “All About Overton” and is a watercolour map of Overton which also includes events of Overton including the sheep fair – it is absolutely stunning. Jo also has one of her paintings featured in The Liberty Book. Jo’s talk was incredibly interesting and was thoroughly enjoyed by the 21 members who joined us on Zoom.
