Since the last magazine article, we have had two meetings:
Thursday 13th May 2021: this was our Annual Meeting and members joined us via Zoom – during this meeting we received the North Waltham WI Annual Report, Treasurer’s Report and President’s Thanks. After 6 years of being President, Carolyn stepped down so were joined by a WI Advisor who conducted the poll over Zoom to elect a new President – congratulations to Helen F who is now the North Waltham WI President. Sally is continuing as our Treasurer and Penny W is now our Correspondence Secretary. Debbie W continues as our Minutes Secretary and Sharon L as Vice-President. Following the business, we had a social where we had to select various items in our house, eg, favourite item in the room, what is the first thing you see, etc. We found out some interesting information from our members about the items they selected.
Thursday 10th June 2021: following the changes in the Covid-19 restrictions we were able to have a meeting in person since March 2020. Several members met at Sally’s garden, thankfully the weather was good to us.
Our meetings for the next few months are:
8th July 2021: Due to the current guidelines it is planned to hold this meeting outside – weather permitting – venue to be confirmed. As we were unable to have a “live” birthday party in March 2021 the committee are planning for this to be our party – more details to follow.
August 2021: - no meeting
9th September 2021: Maggie Forbes who will be talking about quilting. It is hoped that we will be able to use Rathbone Pavilion, however, this is dependent on the Covid-19 government restrictions on this date.
14th October 2021: Sarah Slater who works at Hampton Court. Her talk is entitled “Sex, Secrets, Scandal and Salacious Gossip of the Royal Court 1660 - 1830”. Hopefully, we will be in the Rathbone Pavilion for this meeting – if this is not possible, Sarah has given this talk via Zoom to many WIs over the past few months – all to rave reviews!!
