WI - March 2021

Our last meeting on the 11th March 2021 was our 85th Birthday – a slice of birthday cake, made by our President, was delivered to all our members on the day so that we could enjoy it together during our Zoom meeting.  We had a record turn-out for our Zoom meetings with 26 members joining to be entertained by Wayne Trice “Magic in a Trice”.  Wayne became interested in magic as a schoolboy and would often travel to Davenports Magic Shop in Charing Cross, London at the weekends.  Not only was this a shop but also had a studio behind where you could learn all about magic.  On leaving school, Wayne worked for many years for a bank but when he was made redundant he turned back to magic and has been performing magic at all sorts of occasions, parties, weddings, corporate and latterly at several WI meetings across the country, all to rave reviews.  And we were not disappointed – Wayne performed several magic tricks and illusions that had us all amazed, talked about his careers then taught us a couple of tricks so that we can impress our family and friends, which we performed with various levels of success!  It was a wonderful evening full of laughter and amazement and made our birthday just a little bit special in these challenging times.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the government and NFWI restrictions and guidelines, our meetings continue to be held by Zoom:

8th April 2021:  Jo Hatton, Linking Environment and Farming (LEAF).  LEAF is the leading organisation delivering more sustainable food and farming, working with farmers, the food industry, scientists and consumers

13th May 2021:  Annual Meeting and social

For our meetings in June and July we are hoping that the restrictions will allow us to meet up outside – more details will follow when we know what the restrictions are likely to be.
