At our last meeting on the 8th April 2021 we were joined by Jo Hatton from Linking Environment and Farming (LEAF) who gave us a very interesting talk on their work. NW - WI November 2020

Our last meeting on Thursday 12th November 2020 was held by Zoom – we open Zoom at 7.00 pm to give members a chance to join and have a chat before we start the meeting at 7.30 pm. Our speaker kicked off our meeting – Jo South is a local artist living in Overton and she talked about how her interest in painting really started when she was studying in Canterbury where she painted her favourite pubs and scenes around the area – Jo’s interest is in architecture and her painting style of ink and watercolours beautifully reflect this.      See full story...

Our last meeting on Thursday 8th October 2020 was held by Zoom – we open Zoom at 7.00 pm to give members a chance to join and have a chat before the meeting starts at 7.30 pm. We then had a very short business meeting followed by a very informal quiz which was enjoyed by all.      See full story...

NW WI - Sept 2020

North Waltham WI held its first Zoom meeting on the 10th September 2020. We started the Zoom half an hour before the official meeting start to allow members time to join at their leisure and we all had a good old chinwag – not the same as in person, but certainly an acceptable alternative.      See full story...

NW WI - August 2020

North Waltham WI is continuing to follow the guidance from the National Federation of WIs and Hampshire County Federation of WIs. With the current restrictions regarding social distancing, we are unable to use the Rathbone Pavilion as it is not big enough for our numbers. WI - June 2020

North Waltham WI is continuing to follow the guidance from Hampshire Confederation of WIs and at the current time we are unable to hold any meetings. The following is from HCFWI Chairman following their recent Events Meeting - “We are finding it very frustrating to have to wait before making definite bookings as, sadly, it could still be sometime before the restrictions are lifted on meetings. But for the good of everybody, we must be patient.”      See full story...

WI - May 2020

North Waltham WI is continuing to follow the guidance from Hampshire Confederation of WIs and at the current time we are unable to hold any meetings. As mentioned last time, we did look at the possibility of holding meetings via Zoom – I have been asking members when I see them, at the required social distancing, and there doesn’t seem to be the interest. Our 84th Birthday Meeting was held on March 12th 2020 in Steventon Village Hall. The hall was packed with local members and guests, as well as invited guests from Church Crookham WI (with whom we are twinned), Oakley and Deane WI, our WI Advisors and the Chairman of the Hampshire Federation of WIs.      See full story...

WI - Jan 2020

Our last meeting was on Thursday 12th December 2019 – this was our Christmas Social and members enjoyed mince pies, stollen, mulled wine and mulled apple juice. This was followed by members sharing Christmas poems, ditties, etc as well as a mini pantomime put on by several members. We all enjoyed the chance to have a bit of a natter as well! On the 12th September, we had the pleasure of having our fellow member Jan Peterson share her photos and account of helping an Elephant Orphanage in Zambia. Jan was volunteering through Game Ranger’s International.      See full story...

On the 11th July 2019, our Garden Meeting was held in Colleen’s beautiful garden – and the sun shone down on us. Following a short business meeting, Nicky Carter spoke to us about Move It or Lose it - these classes are designed to encourage older adults to become more active.      See full story...

Our meeting on 9th May 2019 started with our normal business meeting followed by the Annual Meeting. This included a presentation from Helen, our Communications Secretary, who reviewed the many good meetings and events that have taken place during 2018/19.      See full story...

At our meeting on April 11th 2019 at the Rathbone Pavilion Carolyn welcomed two new members, Linda and Sylvie, bringing our total number of NWWI to 42. Our speakers for the evening were two ladies working at St. Michaels Hospice, a well-known venue and familiar to lots of families.      See full story...
